I can’t quite express my deep happiness and contentment while photographing an individual in their creative and sacred space. To me, it is one of the deepest forms of connection, where all things feel grounded, awake and uplifted at the same time. whatever it is the maker is making, the space, the objects and the participants all contain the energy of the making. It’s a wonderful, delicious ripple effect of creativity & imagination at play. And I always leave walking lighter than before.
This photo shoot was particularly special to me. My sweet friend Barbara started a natural, bee friendly, hand crafted lip balm business, after many personal twists and turns on her path. She has always been someone I hold dear to my heart since meeting her years ago, when we were young, full of ideas and wondering what would come next. Seeing how life has brought her to this place, with such beautiful purpose and poise, took my breath away.
My purpose in photography is much the same of what I experience while photographing the creative ripple effect. To make artful photos that grow a connection in you to people, places and products that help us all make our world a better place, so we can continue to pass along knowledge, be generous with our hearts and conscious with our choices. Where we can all leave walking lighter than before.
